Gold Pendant Antique Inca Find--NOT FOR SALE
This is a priceless gold pendant from a Peruvian dig, it was made ca. 900-1100 A.D. and comes from the Sican culture which was older than the Inca civilization. It is about 5" square. We are showing it because KJL was inspired by it or something like it to create his Peruvian sculpture. We don't own it. It is in a museum along with thousands of other artifacts discovered in a burial site near Lima, Peru. For further information, see Scientific American April 1994.
Gold Pendant by Kenneth Jay Lane
Here is a one of a kind primitive style pendant created by KJL in the 1980s. It is 3-dimensional; you can add it to a scarf, a strand of beads, silk cord, etc. I show it with a silk organza scarf drawn through the loop at the top. The expression on his face is amazing. I would also use the spiny oyster or variscite beads as a accompaniment since they have the wonderful "rough" cut look you want to balance the complexity and interest of this pendant. Coral Frangi Necklace NOT KJL but unbelievable size!
This unbelievable work of Mother Nature's art is a rare example of extremely long coral pieces in the natural red color, completely untreated. The longest branch is 3.5"! This one looks like a tic tac toe board filled with O's. The center crystals are chatons,
a special type of cut that really sparkles--hand set for sure. No replacements, everything original. Signed

Kenneth Jay Lane Elegance from the 17th Century French

| A stunning design by Kenneth from a 17th Century French model by Gilles L'Egare, jeweller to royalty. During the 16th to 18th Centuries, jewelry took on secular importance and moved out of the Church and into the ballroom. The original model for this design shown above is in a jewelry sketchbook published by Gilles L'Egare in Paris around 1663. The centerpiece of the necklace measures 3.5" x 2.5" and is lavishly inlaid with brilliant rhinestones in a feminine floral arrangement. The clip eardrops appear delicate and are very lightweight, about 1.25" high. The central ornament of the necklace is held by 4 rows of faceted jet glass fire polish beads ending in a brilliant 5-crystal bar. The necklace is adjustable from 12" to 16". Who is Kenneth Jay Lane?
Kenneth Jay Lane has had a starstudded career as a designer of jewelry, accessories, and as an interpreter of the taste and trends of the times. He has exercised his creative imagination to its fullest since 1963 when he started out in New York City selling his bracelets on the street in the fashion district. He knows many socialites, movers and shakers, and international celebrities, and has designed for them and with them in mind. Yet his creations are accessible to everyone. His book Faking It tells his story.
Mr. Lane is continually creating new ideas and uses only the finest components in his pieces. Each crystal "gem" is the finest possible Austrian or German crystal. The gold and silver plating are heavy and thick and will never deteriorate or tarnish. Each piece of jewelry is carefully assembled and finished here in the US by artisans whom Mr. Lane has carefully trained to meet the exacting standards of his COUTURE collection.
